Missions & Outreach
New Covenant church is active in mission and service, both locally and around the world. We strive to be generous with our time and our money in ministries of compassion. As disciples of Christ, we seek to find ways for each person to respond to human need and make a difference in the lives of others. Some of our mission activities include:
Capitol Area Agency on Aging:
Friendship Cafe',Tuesday-Thursday seniors enjoy fellowship, educational programs and a nutritious lunch in our dining area.
Chesterfield County Christmas Mother Project: Each November, our congregation sponsors one or two families and provides clothing, gifts and food for their Christ(mas and our Community food bank:
Souper Bowl Sunday
On a regular basis, our congregation contributes food to the local food bank and each February participates on participates in/on Souper Bowl Sunday.
We also contribute to the following organizations:
Programs & Groups
Music Program: Music is an important part of our worship and fellowship at New Covenant. We have a rich tradition of fine music. The New Covenant Choir provides anthems and direction to the congregation's music on Sundays. We welcome your musical gifts and invite you to join our choir. New Covenant Choir practices each Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.
We currently have Mr Jared Bookbinder as our Music Director.
Presbyterian Women: Women at New Covenant are invited to attend the circle that meets the third Monday of each month, September thru May at 12:30PM. Bring lunch, beverage and dessert is provided. The study is "Who is Jesus"? There is time for study and educational time to learn about and contribute to projects of the denominational organization Presbyterian Women. Women are also invited to participate in regional (Presbytery wide) events for women in the spring and fall. The group supports mission projects around the world. The women also send cards to shut-in members and are involved in a variety of service projects ranging from sending boxes of supplies and goodies to our troops; visiting and sending cards and food to those who are sick; providing food and hostesses for luncheons after funerals; and providing financial help with various projects for the whole church. The group recently purchased receivers for the use of those with difficulty hearing worship services.
New Covenant is a small congregation and every child is cherished as a precious member of God's household. Unlike the school setting, in which children are generally age and ability-grouped, at New Covenant they find themselves in a family context with many loving grandparents. We are flexible in our approach to Christian education for children.
Vacation Bible School and Camp: During the summer (June - August), children's Sunday school is suspended. However. we offer special vacation Bible school type of occasions during the summer on specific weekends for the children and their friends. Our congregation encourages and provides financial support (when necessary) for the children to attend our church camp, Camp Hanover. Many of our children attend this Christian Church camp for a week or more each summer.
Children at Worship: Children are encouraged to attend worship with their parents. We offer children's activity bags for use during the worship service. A standard part of the worship service is the "children's time." Our small church setting allows the pastor to know each of the children and she enjoys working with each of them.
